FB-8 oil-coated adhesive tape
Oil and gas pipelines that spread hundreds of kilometers are generally large-diameter steel pipes. Since it is buried underground for a long time, it must be treated with antiseptic treatment. FB-8 butyl rubber tape can be used as a cover to protect the oil pipeline to prevent oxygen and moisture from penetrating.
The adhesive tape is made of flexible plastic and rubber and is spirally wound around the steel pipe. The plastic layer as the first line of defense is generally made of a polyethylene material.
The butyl rubber having low gas permeability forms a second protective layer which has sufficient fluidity to fill any gaps and defects in the surface of the steel pipe.
Butyl rubber is the most ideal material for the adhesive tape coating. It has a low transmittance to water and oxygen, and has good aging properties. This butyl rubber is specially bonded to bond steel and polyethylene plastics.
