Scientists invent a new type of carbon nanotube "rubber" that can recover at extreme temperatures

Japanese scientists have recently developed a special "tough rubber" material that will not be damaged at any extreme temperature. The relevant research was published in the journal Science.
It is understood that this new carbon nanotube "rubber" is actually a traditional viscoelastic material, and its appearance is similar to foam earplugs or an ordinary eraser. No matter how it is twisted, stretched, bent, or even pierced, it will eventually return to its original state. This "rubber" material has a surprisingly "tough" structure; it can withstand low temperatures, such as those on Titan, the largest moon of Jupiter; and high temperatures, such as those experienced when approaching the sun in space. If it were used as a material for spacecraft, then human spacecraft would be "unstoppable." In short, this "tough rubber" material maintains its elasticity under various harsh conditions.
