FB-8 oil-wrapped adhesive tape
Oil and gas pipelines, extending hundreds of kilometers, are typically large-diameter steel pipes. Because they are buried underground for extended periods, anti-corrosion treatment is essential. FB-8 Butyl rubber adhesive tape can be used as a protective covering for oil pipelines to prevent oxygen and water penetration.
The adhesive tape is composed of flexible plastic and rubber, spirally wrapped around the steel pipe. The plastic layer, serving as the first line of defense, is generally made of polyethylene material.
Butyl rubber, with its low permeability, forms a second protective layer. Its sufficient fluidity allows it to fill any gaps and defects on the steel pipe surface.
Butyl rubber is the ideal material for the adhesive tape's anti-corrosion layer. It exhibits very low permeability to water and oxygen and has excellent aging properties. This butyl rubber is specially formulated to bond steel and polyethylene plastic.
